I wonder how often our brains are neglected. How often we now put our mental capacity in a wheelchair and just let someone else push it around. I am not sure if this just how I am wired, or how I have told this story to myself, but it seems quite obvious to me that the invention of the internet and all this access has turned us into idiots. That we no longer seek to obtain knowledge in a way that is good for our brains, but good for our egos.

I have found myself lost in a world where I do not understand how others operate. It was not until recently that I considered a few things and also caught an interview with Edward Norton on the WTF podcast about our society slipping into a world of uncontrolled narcissism that I got some clarity on the matter. Specifically when you combine the worlds greatest amplifier, social media and the view that everyone seems to be only thinking of themselves these days. So is it you? Is it me? Is it too late? Time to think about it.

Well it took a bit, but I am back at it. This week we get to cover off some news I have with respect to my life and my wife. Life doesn’t always go as planned and in the last month Hali and I have been through some tougher times. Nothing we can’t handle, but tough none the less. Mainly for my wife, as I am more a passenger here as she navigates a miscarriage. But it isn’t meant to be a sad story! We see the positives and had a focus on moving through it. I hope you enjoy this one.

I often wonder if I am trapped on a world that is locked up. A world that is stuck in one gear. But then I remind myself that I am the one who is driving the car and I am the one picking the route I am on. There is no need to be comfortable here. I need to find the new road. The new experience. The thing that makes me uncomfortable and really have a crack at it. In life you never know the journey you will have. For some it’s much the same as many. Born into a family, growing up on the same street, going to school, getting a job and becoming an adult. But for some it’s very different. For Gigi Tsang life was a combination of both. From working in the family restaurant to becoming a teacher to realising that that was not her path. Gigi is not short of dong what she thinks is right to find what she wants in life and working hard to achieve it.

Today I got the chance to talk to Sarah Edney who I have had the chance to play ice hockey with over the last season. Both as a player and as a coach. She is an absolute delight to hang with and is a total nutter butter when it comes to bed time rituals. She claims the vegan card so she can get the right food off the menu and orders a side of meat! And if that’s not enough to peak your interest, she has moved to Australia to become a dentist! This girl works hard and has a great vision of her future. Hope you enjoy this one!

All this climate change activist stuff and the government response to it seems off to me. Why would the government, local or national, care if people protest? Outside of violent protest, I can’t see the issue. Outside of the obvious, why would any government care if a group believe in a world that is ending as a result of lack of action on the part of the government? The world is ever more on fire and this is less and less to do with climate. It is to do with the general unrest in society. The unbalance we all face and the mouse in the maze feeling we all seem be feeling. Whether you know it or not, you are being puppeted by something or someone. Which reminds me! Put that fucking phone down and learn how to navigate the world on your own! The dumb box will not save you. It is designed to control you.
